Position Summary:

The Environment Manager is responsible for the overall management strategies for the assigned application environment. This includes creating and maintaining a detailed deployment schedule (calendar) of software and data refreshes, in collaboration with the various application ecosystem stakeholders. This role is the gatekeeper for all changes to the assigned application environment. The role ensures that all changes are accurately reflected in supporting documentation, including service tickets, and that all test plans are comprehensive.

General Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility is to focus on the minute details of assembling different interrelated components and streamline the release management process.
  • Provide and maintain a Release Calendar
  • Managing risks and resolving challenges that impact release scope, quality, and schedules.
  • Planning release windows and cycles across portfolios, components
  • Ensure that each release package is consistent and compatible with the final configuration.
  • Ensure that all changes are accurately reflected in supporting documentation.
  • Ensure that all change and test plans are comprehensive (including deviations) and completely executed.
  • Ensure that appropriate communications and training are completed.
  • Oversee application environment management strategies: documenting environments portfolio, environment management, deployment, and promotion processes.
  • Create and maintain a detailed deployment schedule in collaboration with various stakeholders.
  • Maintain deep understanding of product ecosystem and its interdependencies and leverage various tools available for environment management & stability.
  • Document system state: configuration, architecture diagrams, data, workload patterns, and track changes in these through the test and promotion processes.
  • Act as a gatekeeper, ensuring that all cross-functional teams sign off on the release before each promotion to production.
  • Be involved in code deployments, database synchronization, and DevOps best practices.
  • Manage and maintain environments in a known good state and enforce proper environment management practices.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Oversees assigned staff. Responsibilities include: recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; assigning workload; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; and coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees. The expected span of control is less than 5 employees.
  • Ensure the team is structured appropriately to meet key priorities; assesses skill level to ensure team members are in the right roles, supporting skill development as appropriate.
  • Manage, coach and mentor direct reports, staff members, and vendor teams to help them be successful in their roles and to develop and improve skill sets. 
  • Effectively prioritize initiatives, tasks, and projects to ensure that the most critical needs are being met as efficiently as possible.
  • Manage the endpoint computing and technology support teams in a way that emphasizes collaboration, enables innovation, and values customer service, technical proficiency, and continuous learning.
  • Build and maintain team morale through frequent communication methods – staff, 1-1, direct report meetings.

Minimum Requirements:

1.       Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in application environment management, including infrastructure and related software within a health plan/payer environment and/or large provider organization.
  • Minimum 3 years in hands-on IT leadership
  • Experience with Business Process Improvement
  • Experience with Application and System Architecture
  • Medicare/Healthcare support background
  • Ability to handle software infrastructure management & configuration management.
  • An expert understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Structured/critical thinking
  • Experience in coordinating cross-functional work teams up to task completion
  • Background in business requirements gathering.
  • Basic Project Management skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills to consistently demonstrate expertise, business knowledge, team cohesiveness, respect, non-alarming directives, and patience while interacting during system outages and critical deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in one-on-one and small-large group settings are essential. 

2.       Education/Licensure:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, or a related technical field preferred

Pay Range: $145,000 - $155,000 annually.
