Position Title: Sr. Director, Learning and Development

Position Summary:

The Sr. Director, Learning and Development is responsible for improving the productivity of the organization's employees through the planning and direction of organization training programs. This position assesses company-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable training solutions for employees. This position actively searches, creatively designs and implements effective methods to educate, enhance performance and recognize performance.

General Duties/Responsibilities (May include but are not limited to):

  • Conducts annual training and development needs assessment.
  • Directs and plans the development and administration of organization training programs.
  • Develops training objectives, strategies, policies, and programs.
  • Coordinates the implementation of policies and procedures related to various training and educational programs for the employees of an organization.
  • Administers spending against the departmental budget.
  • Obtains and /or develops effective training materials utilizing a variety of media.
  • Trains and coaches managers, supervisors and others involved in employee development efforts.
  • Plans, organizes, facilitates and orders supplies for employee development and training events.
  • Develops and maintains organizational communications such as intranet bulletin boards and newsletters to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources.
  • Conducts follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results.
  • Modifies programs as needed.
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
  • Works effectively as a team member with other members of management and the HR staff.

1.       Minimum Experience:

    1. Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
    2. Seven years of experience designing and implementing employee development programs.
    3. Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential preferred.

d.       SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP)or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.

  1. Other:
    1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    2. Strong presentation skills.
    3. Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods.
    4. Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
    5. Ability to design and implement effective training and development.
    6. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.  Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.  Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.  Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to management and public groups.
    7. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    8. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.  Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases.  Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
    9. Computer Skills: Knowledge of computer programs and applications required.
